one-eyed phantom.

August 18th, 2007

my mom isn’t teaching drama anymore, so she has a lot of movie & musical posters to give away. my aunt called dibs on the wizard of oz poster, so i claimed the gone with the wind one, which is going in my living room. my mother also brought out her phantom of the opera poster, which i can remember buying when we saw it at the kennedy center in washington, d.c. it has some damage to the phantom mask’s eye, and it’s actually quite an interesting story as to how it happened. when my mom worked at ECMS, she was in the trailer for her first few years of teaching there. one monday morning, my mother came in and noticed white plaster dust on her floor and a hole through her phantom poster. turns out, the hole was a gunshot. not a joke, somebody shot the trailer and it went through the phantom’s eye. lol. jade, i figured you’d appreciate that. the damage to the poster isn’t really noticable from a distance.

anyway, seeing all these posters made me kind of sad, because i know that pete would probably want them, or he’d be able to do something with them, as several of them are from famous musicals. but the only people i know who share my mother’s love of phantom of the opera are jade and pete. and jade, you will inherit my mom’s wounded phantom poster…framed and all, just missing the plastic. ;)
